Counts come from the GitHub API at build time and only cover the v* tags shown here. Package managers (winget, Homebrew, Snap, Flathub) and app stores are not included.

Open github.com/ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors for source. Open Releases for DesktopEditors_x64.exe and sibling assets. Licence text lives in the repo LICENSE file.

What the repo contains

Desktop Editors is a desktop office suite with spreadsheet, document, and presentation editors. This site focuses on the spreadsheet install path while staying honest that the same binary suite also edits docs and slides.

Stars, forks, and the latest tag on this page come from gh.json at build time. Do not invent counts. Do not claim we maintain the upstream project.

Licence honesty

AGPL-3.0 is a strong copyleft licence. If you modify and distribute the software, read the licence. For everyday desktop spreadsheet use of official binaries, most desks simply install and work. Legal review still belongs to your counsel when you ship modifications.

Sheet Quill did not write this application. Ascensio System SIA did. We only verify install doors and document them.

Issues and security

Upstream issues belong on the GitHub issue tracker for DesktopEditors. Security notes also appear on the vendor security page. Do not send vulnerability reports to this install guide publisher.

  • Source: ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors
  • Licence: AGPL-3.0
  • Windows primary asset: DesktopEditors_x64.exe
  • Package ids: winget ONLYOFFICE.DesktopEditors, brew cask onlyoffice

How the install guide uses the repo

fetch:gh reads releases, matches asset regexes, and fills the install panel. Editorial copy cites RESEARCH.md facts. Release binaries remain on GitHub.

Return to spreadsheet home for commands. See releases for asset names. See download safe for mirror hygiene.

Contributor vs installer paths

Building from source is a developer path. Installing DesktopEditors_x64.exe, winget, brew, or AppImage is the installer path this guide covers. Do not conflate them on a helpdesk ticket.

Monorepo noise can confuse newcomers. Stay on the DesktopEditors repository named above rather than random forks that republish old installers.

When you cite the project in a procurement note, include the repo URL, the licence, and the exact asset or package id. That trio is enough for most spreadsheet install approvals without pasting marketing blurbs.

Upstream README and help center pages cover feature depth beyond install. Use those for formula references after the binary is on disk.

Reading stars without mythology

Star counts change. They are a popularity signal, not a safety proof. Pair stars with licence reading, release asset names, and verified package ids. A spreadsheet install decision should survive even if stars move next month.

Forks can be helpful for experiments and harmful when someone downloads an old fork’s binary. Always start from the upstream ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors URL linked on the home page.

Docs versus marketing sites

Vendor marketing pages explain product families. GitHub Releases explain filenames. This install guide privileges filenames because helpdesks need them. After install, vendor help center articles explain spreadsheet formulas and UI paths in more depth.

Keep both bookmarks: Releases for the binary, help center for features. Do not treat a blog mirror as either.

Independence statement

Sheet Quill publishes independent install documentation and is not Ascensio System SIA. DesktopEditors binaries remain on GitHub Releases. Sheet Quill sells no seats. When copy mentions ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors, it identifies the upstream product for a spreadsheet install path.

Trademark and brand presentation stay descriptive. Mark and favicon on our pages are original sheet-grid geometry, not vendor logos.

Linking back to the pillar

Every cluster page should send readers back to the spreadsheet home install panel when they are ready to run a command. GitHub context helps trust; the panel helps action. Keep both in the same mental model.

Guides under guides expand OS steps. Trust pages under About explain who publishes this documentation. None of those pages host the binary.
